Pancakes are a must for every American breakfast or brunch. Traditionally, a stack of three is served with whipped butter and maple syrup. As Pancakes usually taste rather neutral, toppings or sides make up the flavour. For a sweet taste, fruit and syrup is added. For some salty flavour, you can add hash-browns or bacon.
You always wanted to make pancakes from scratch? This American Pancakes recipe is super easy and quick, only requiring a handful of ingredients. As they don’t taste sweet at all, you may add more sugar if you prefer to make your pancakes sweeter. Alternatively, you can also topp them with date syrup and bananas to add more sweetness and flavour if you like. I usually add seasonal fruit, date syrup or peanut butter.
225 g flour
1 table spoon coconut blossom sugar (regular sugar is fine as well of course)
1 tea spoon baking powder
250 ml almondmilk
3 table spoons olive oil
Step by Step
Mix all the liquid ingredients and whisk them. Then, mix all the dry ingredients and add them to the liquid ingredients. Let everything sit for about 10 minutes. This allows the batter to thicken some more. Meanwhile, heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Finally, use a cup to pour the batter to get evenly sized pancakes. Brown on both sides.
Add your favourite toppings. I love date syrup and bananas.
